Terms of business for families
Last updated 15 October 2026
These terms apply between Amelie Pfeiffer (“the Agency”) and the family or individual engaging the Agency (“you”). The Agency is an employment agency under the Employment Agencies Act 1973 and the Conduct of Employment Agencies and Employment Businesses Regulations 2003. We introduce candidates; you employ the candidate directly.
1. The service
- We take a brief, search for and vet candidates, present a shortlist, arrange interviews, and assist with the offer and a contract template.
- We handle permanent roles only: full-time, or part-time on fixed days of at least 16 hours a week.
- We aim to present a shortlist within 10 working days of the brief. This is an aim, not a guarantee; we will tell you promptly if a brief is proving hard to fill.
2. Fees
- Registration fee: £250, payable when the brief is taken. It is deducted from the placement fee. If we do not produce a shortlist within 4 weeks of the brief, it is refunded in full.
- Placement fee: 15% of the candidate’s gross annual salary, with a minimum of £3,500 for part-time roles. For live-in roles, the fee is calculated on the gross salary only.
- The placement fee is payable within 14 days of the candidate accepting your offer, and before the start date where the start date is sooner.
- We are not VAT-registered and no VAT is charged.
- Fees are payable by you only. We never charge candidates.
3. Replacement guarantee
- If the candidate leaves or is dismissed within 6 months of the start date, we will conduct a replacement search at no additional fee.
- The guarantee applies where the placement fee was paid on time, you tell us within 7 days of the employment ending, and the ending is not caused by a material change to the role, a breach of the candidate’s contract by you, redundancy, or relocation.
- The guarantee is a replacement search. It is not a refund, and it does not guarantee that a suitable replacement will be found, although we will work on it until it is.
4. Candidate information
- Before an introduction we offer you copies of the candidate’s DBS certificate and relevant qualifications, as the regulations require.
- Candidate information is confidential. You must not pass it to anyone outside your household or use it for any purpose other than considering the candidate for the role.
5. Engagement through the Agency
- If you engage a candidate we introduced, in any capacity, within 12 months of the introduction, the placement fee is payable.
- If you pass a candidate to another household who engages them within 12 months, the placement fee is payable by you.
6. Your responsibilities
- You are the employer. You are responsible for the employment contract, payroll, PAYE and National Insurance, pension auto-enrolment, employer’s liability insurance, and the candidate’s statutory rights.
- You agree to pay a gross salary through payroll. We do not place candidates into roles paid cash in hand.
- You will give us accurate information about the role and any health or safety matters relevant to the candidate.
7. Liability
We carry out the checks described on the site for every candidate, but you make the final hiring decision. Our liability to you is limited to the fees paid under these terms. Nothing in these terms limits liability for death, personal injury, fraud or anything that cannot be limited by law.
8. General
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. Personal data is handled under our privacy notice. Complaints should be sent to enquiries@ameliepfeiffer.com and will be acknowledged within two working days.
